Broccolini Launches Their First Residential High-Rise Development In Toronto
Montréal-based mixed-use developer, Broccolini, is launching their first residential high-rise project called River & Fifth, in Toronto this spring.
Rising 37 storeys above the Don Valley and the city's core, Broccolini's eye-catching façade is bringing a new urban sophistication into Toronto's emerging east end neighbourhoods, Corktown and Riverside's Queen Street East.
"It's as if Toronto kept the east end of downtown a secret for years, but word is finally out," said Michael Broccolini, VP Business Development and Finance. "The neighbourhood provides an ideal combination of city and nature, with the Don Valley Trail, Corktown Commons and Riverdale Park all within five minutes from each other, where you can escape the hustle and bustle. It's a part of the city that aligns with so many of our own community values."
The structure's stacked framing on the east and west elevations amplify the visibility of the residences from a distance, and enhance the lightness of the building. An 11-storey podium at the base creates a mid-rise neighbourhood feel, with a series of townhomes that respects the urban edge.
Future plans for the evolving area include a new parkland on the south side of the development and a pedestrian connection to Bayview Avenue that leads to Corktown Commons.
"River & Fifth is on a very unique site. You are slightly removed from the downtown core, on a quiet street that backs on to the Don River and Trail. This sparked the idea to bring a sense of the outdoors inside the building and integrate a natural park feel into the amenity spaces," said Enzo Corazza, Principal at Graziani + Corazza Architects.

Working with Toronto's design firm U31, interiors were thoughtfully crafted to reflect nature and the city colliding. The lobby and amenity spaces incorporate greenery with feature lighting, marble veining, natural oak finishes and sculptural wood seating.
"Our approach as residential developers is to help shape urban communities with beautifully detailed, inviting spaces that people will want to use in their daily lives. Because we also manage all of our construction in-house, we drill down to the details right from the start, ensuring our vision for projects can really come to life," said Anthony Broccolini, Chief Operating Officer.

Designed for urban living, 25,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor amenity space include a kids' game room, lounge, expansive fitness area with a ballet bar and boxing gym, and co-working spaces.
The12th floor rooftop amenity space includes a Baja pool that overlooks the city, and a new dedicated parkland to the south.
Floor plans range from studios to family-sized suites, with large terraces featuring wide-planked flooring, two-toned kitchens with modern fixtures and appliances finished in matte black.
